Project Scope

Troy Baker is one of the world’s top voice actors. From Batman Animated Feature Films to industry-changing game titles like Bioshock and The Last of Us, Troy’s voice has graced the eardrums of millions of people for over a decade.

Troy came to us looking to create a vision and identity for his online community & podcast network, “Relater.” Together, we crafted a brand built around telling deep, meaningful stories while maintaining a clean and timeless aesthetic he can implement from his HQ in Los Angeles. This brand is designed to fit every piece of content that Relater’s community creates, from interviews with gaming’s most prominent writers like Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross, to down-to-earth podcasts with comedian Pete Holmes. Relater’s brand is a flexible storytelling toolbox.

The brand’s core icon is inspired by the Hegelian dialectic, a symbol that represents the two sides of a conversation and the place in the middle where we find understanding. This mark represents what Relater is all about; bringing people of different backgrounds together to have a meaningful conversation and turn them into meaningful stories.

Typography inspired by utilitarian typefaces and hand-drawn scripts gives the brand a balance of modern minimalism and engaging storytelling character.

Colour

Colour selections allow the brand to sit in the background, letting community stories shine while providing small pops of colour where necessary.

Typography

The typography system is heavily inspired by utilitarian letter styles throughout the decades. Paired with a hand-drawn script for an added human touch, it showcases a range of classic type styles commonly used for storytelling.

The icon represents the three ways that Relater aims to tell stories. Conversation (Talk), Video Games (Game) & Play (Music & other creative mediums). The icon seamlessly transforms between its core form and these three variations, giving it a memorable and interactive feel.

Custom thumbnail images & animated title bumpers bring the brand to life, giving the podcasts and video content a distinct and memorable feel.
