Project Scope

Kinda Funny is a YouTube and podcast studio based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2015 by four best friends with a passion for video games and pop culture, the team and following have grown immensely since then, and Kinda Funny has become a reference model for what online communities can look like in the gaming industry.

Our work with Kinda Funny spans the greater part of a decade, from podcast artwork and illustration to branding for online talk shows. We’ve worked on a huge variety of projects together as the company has moved from a spare bedroom to a small studio above a comic book store to a new industry-leading production space in San Francisco.

A Love for Playstation

PS I Love You XOXO launched as Kinda Funny’s Playstation-centric podcast and it has gone on to be one of the biggest gaming podcasts in the world, hosting live episodes on gaming’s biggest stages and capturing the attention of PlayStation fans around the globe.

Our branding pulls inspiration from every generation of Playstation design style and eco-system, creating a look and feel that instantly resonates with fans of the console.

Just Chattin’

The Kinda Funny Podcast is a talk show-inspired podcast where team members bring random conversation topics to discuss and chaos ensues. Our branding is inspired by retro news and talk show logos of the 1970s and 80s, bringing a fun, playful, and down-to-earth vibe to the show.

A Show for the Xbox Fans

After the success of the team’s Playstation-centric podcast, we worked together to create a show with which the Xbox audience would resonate -- Paying homage to the console and ecosystem that fans love so much.

This show went on to consistently top gaming podcast charts globally, just like its Playstation-based sister show.

Couch Co-Op

Inspired by retro arcades and the golden age of late night multiplayer gaming sessions, Party Mode features members of Kinda Funny in chaos-filled co-op and competitive gaming events.

Cool Friends

We Have Cool Friends is an interview-based show featuring friends of the team from around the entertainment industry. Our branding is designed to bring a friendly and fun look to the show and all its assets.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Inspired by the nostalgia of 80s & 90s cartoons, the team launched a limited animated series following the antics that would have ensued if the KF team had attended grade school together.

Our logo and branding are inspired by the amazing logos and lettering that zipped across our 90s TV screens every Saturday morning.
