Project Scope

Brand Kit

Taking cues from retro cartoons and classic sports mascots, the Gruffy icon acts as the central piece of the brand tool kit, making sure the brand's face is always friendly. We partnered the mascot with custom type inspired by a goat's swoopy tail and curved horns for a memorable and approachable feel.

Colour

To give the brand flexibility and a diverse range of personality, we assembled a suite of colours inspired by the retro gouache illustrations found in early Little Golden Books with just a touch more saturation to provide the pop necessary in the modern web landscape.

Typography

A playful collection of typefaces brings the identity a distinct look, feeling friendly and playful in all situations. From big juicy headings to crisp and energetic body copy, the type system covers the full spectrum of sizes while maintaining an approachable and professional spirit.

Bringing Gruffy to Life

From the beginning of the identity process, our conversations with the GruffyGoat team were filled with ideas for Saturday morning cartoon action. Adding motion brought a whole new level of depth to the brand and turned Gruffy into a mascot that leaves a personality-packed first impression.

The Website

Working alongside GruffyGoat’s dev team, we crafted a web experience that brings the brand to life on every page. Kudos to the dev team for the wicked nav colour switcher — it's such a fun interaction and a brilliant way to introduce the brand colour palette without being too busy and overwhelming!

Getting Social

To help keep things consistent across all the social platforms, we assembled a HUGE toolbox of social templates and assets (including the brand launch video seen to the left) for the GruffyGoat team to take the brand to the masses.
